Prestwick Spaceport will operate from Glasgow Prestwick Airport, a 24/7 airport with two major runways 12/30 and 03/21 of 2,986m and 1,905m respectively. Prestwick Spaceport aims to establish itself as a horizontal space launch facility in Scotland. We will develop essential infrastructure to obtain a spaceport operator licence, alongside hangarage and fuel handling facilities. A spaceport STEM outreach centre, open to the public, is planned for the site.
The Glasgow Prestwick Airport site benefits from the longest commercial runway in Scotland. The area has a reliable weather record with take-off and approach over sea or low population countryside. The Airport operates 24/7 with no slot restrictions and has access to uncongested airspace. The site can be accessed directly by motorway, rail and air and it’s the only Scottish airport with a direct rail link.
Prestwick Spaceport sits at the heart of the Prestwick Aerospace campus. The campus is a centre of excellence for MRO, aerostructures and design and UTC, BAE Systems, Spirit AeroSystems, GE Caledonian and Ryanair MRO are some of the companies with a presence at the campus.
