Glyndwr Innovations Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Wrexham Glyndwr University. GIL operates from and manages the OpTIC Technology Centre in St Asaph, North Wales.
Glyndŵr Innovations Limited has specialist skills and equipment for the fabrication, test and integration of high precision optics. This includes large, up to 2.0m diameter, and complex optics such as aspherics. Other capabilities include the design, integration and verification of diffraction limited optical systems for imaging applications and optical instrumentation. Work is supported by in-house teams for optical design, opto-mechanical design, optical fabrication and high precision dimensional metrology.
Research and Development coating plant and environmental test facilities are due to be installed and available mid 2020.
Two CNC optical Polishing systems capable of the fabrication of optics to 2.0m and 1.2m, as well as conventional polishing capability. On these systems GIL can produce a range of surfaces including convex, concave, flat (planar), spherical, aspherical or freeform for most optical materials.
Extensive optical metrology facilities, including a supported well equipped laboratory with a wide range of contact and interferometric measuring systems. GIL can also design and integrate bespoke metrology systems for special applications.
Design, build and Integration of optical systems including optical payloads for airborne applications and astronomical instrumentation. Services include Optical and Opto-mechanical design, FEA and structural analysis of optical systems.
All of Glyndwr Innovations facilities and services are offered on a commercial basis.
